LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Eleven different Adrian players figured in the scoring as the No. 5 Bulldogs (6-0, 6-0) remained unbeaten by sweeping the first of two weekend series against Lake Forest College (1-6, 1-5) with a 4-1 win, in a Saturday afternoon Midwest Collegiate Athletic Association Southern Division game.
The first period was almost identical as last night's game as the Bulldogs built a 3-0 lead exactly as they had the day before. In both games, Adrian got two quick goals before the game was five minutes old and added a third around the mid-period mark.
Just over four minutes into the game, Shelby Gray would net a power-play goal from Ryan Gieseler and Josh Ranalli. Then, 42 seconds later Andrew Dovey would score the eventual game winner from Micki Mihailovich for a 2-0 lead. Zach Wilson's goal from Duston Hebebrand and Shaquille Merasty would stake the lead at 3-0, with just over nine minutes left in the first period.
The Foresters would get their only goal in the second period on the power play for a 3-1 game. The Bulldogs appeared flawless 5-on-5 for the weekend, with all three Lake Forest goals in both games coming with the man-advantage.
MCHA Offensive Player of the Week, Zach Graham would cap off the scoring in the third period with assists to Shawn Courtney and Ryan Lowe.
Adrian almost outshot Lake Forest by a 2-to-1 margin (49-27), as James Hamby turned aside 26 shots for the win.
The Bulldogs will stay active during the holiday break by hosting St. Mary's next Saturday evening at 7 p.m., Nov. 24th in a non-conference game. The team resumes conference play the following weekend with a pair of games against a much improved Concordia team, who are currently in second place behind the Bulldogs in MCHA standings, on Nov. 30th and Dec. 1st.
