ADRIAN, Mich. - Freshman Shelby Gray scored a pair of goals and assisted on another in Adrian's 4-0 win over Lake Forest on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 19) from Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since Jan. 2009 and in the process moved to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the MCHA.
Freshman goaltender James Hamby improved to 3-0 between the pipes and made 20 saves in his first career shutout for Adrian. He stopped eight shots in the first, five in the second and seven more in the third. Gray gave Adrian a 1-0 lead at even strength for his third goal of the season at 15:53 of the first on a tight wrister to the top right corner. Justin Basso and Zach Graham were credited with assists on the goal.
In the second period, Gray made it 2-0 on the first of Adrian's three straight power play goals to conclude the game. He scored at 4:23 on a 5-on-3 with assists from Chris Stansik and Graham to give AC a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
Basso gave Adrian a 3-0 lead at 10:43 of the third with the man advantage on a 5-on-4 for his fourth goal of the season with assists from Stansik and Ryan Gieseler. Jordan Watts scored his sixth goal of the season at 14:42 on a 5-on-4 which was just one second away from a 5-on-3 and another 1:28 left in the second penalty. Gray and Shawn Courtney each had an assist on Adrian's final goal.
AC went 3-of-6 on the power play while holding Lake Forest to 0-of-6. Each team recorded 20 shots on goal with Marc Stuart making 16 saves for the Foresters.
