Men's Bowling Takes Another Step Forward at AHIBC Events in Ohio

WICKLIFFE, Ohio--The Adrian College men's bowling squad took another step forward over the weekend in its progression as an improving program under first-year head coach John Essenmacher III, placing in the upper-half of the third American-Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament and then 12th in the fourth AHIBC.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs recorded their first top-10 finish in a conference event when they knocked down 7,128 pins for 10th out of 21 teams. Sophomore Dylin Hunter led the way with a sixth-place showing, averaging a 224.2 over five games. Freshman Matt Nicoson placed 20th with a 213.6 average over the same amount of games.

NCAA Division II Notre Dame College-Ohio was the team winner with an actual total of 7,945, and Ryan Ashby of the champion Falcons was the individual winner with a 235.2 average.

In Sunday's AHIBC #4, Adrian caught some bad breaks but grinded out 12th place finish out of 21 schools. Nicoson led the charge with a 205.5 average over four games to place 46th. Next was sophomore Kody Wood who was 69th with a 195.5 average, and Hunter averaged 193.75 for 72nd.

Notre Dame again was victorious in the team standings, edging Marian-Ind. 7617 to 7616. Ohio State's Kyler McDonald was the individual medalist with a 245.75 average.

Adrian travels to Indianapolis, Ind., next weekend for the Hoosier Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
