Bulldogs Win Thrilling Comeback Against Mount Union

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team pulled off an intense come-from-behind win over Mount Union on Saturday afternoon, dealing the Raiders their first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs battled from a four-point deficit to lead 8-4 in the early goings of the contest. In the eight-point run, with Jordan Harris recording five points on two layups and a free throw and Connor Pelham sinking a three.

After the Raiders opened a nine-point lead, Adrian battled back to trail by six to end the period. Jeremy Kalonji was strong in the squad's five-point run, posting three free throws while Harris capped it off with a made jump shot.

Adrian opened the second half with a Kaleb Swick three-pointer, bringing the game within three.

After a Harris layup was met with a layup by Mount Union, Robert Warrick came up big with a dunk that hyped the crowd and his teammates up, bringing the Bulldogs within three. Pelham answered with a made three to knot the game at 46 with 17:21 remaining in the contest.

Despite a 10-2 run going in favor of the bad guys, AC was able to fight back to a two-point deficit, behind eight points from Kalonji on two three-pointers and two free throws, forcing a Raider timeout at 10:37.

Trey Helinski paired with Swick to give the Bulldogs a 61-60 lead on a three-point jump shot by Helinski and a layup by Swick, with just under 10 minutes remaining on the clock.

The final five minutes were very close in scoring, with the pair trading blows and the lead four times.

Adrian sealed its win with a pair of Kalonji free throws inside the final 10 seconds, met with a solid defensive effort, allowing just one shot attempt in the final seconds of the game, which was no good.


  • Senior Jeremy Kalonji led the Bulldogs' offense, scoring 31 points, while going 6-for-10 from the field, 4-for-5 on threes and 15-for-20 from the charity stripe. He also collected seven rebounds on two offensive and five defensives.
  • Junior guard Jordan Harris also collected seven rebounds (2 off., 5 def.), while posting the second most points, 22. Harris recorded the game-winning bucket with one minute remaining on the clock, sinking a three.


The Bulldogs return to action at 2 p.m. on Sunday as the host the Muskingum Fighting Muskies for an nonconference matchup.
