ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Adrian College men's basketball team lost its final game of the 2018 calendar year, falling in the second day of the Mount Union Holiday Classic to host Mount Union, 76-52.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Adrian opened an early lead on Mount Union, holding a 15-6 advantage eight minutes into the game. However, the Purple Raiders then scored 15 in a row to flip the game in their favor at 21-15, ultimately extending the lead to 37-22 at halftime. AC just couldn't get the ball to drop from deep in the opening 20, shooting only 2-12 from beyond the arc.
Mount Union wouldn't relinquish the lead in the second half, as the Purple Raiders extended the lead to 26 points late in the half before the Black and Gold got a few back for the final score of 76-52. The three-point shot continued to elude the Bulldogs in the second half, as a 1-8 mark set the Bulldogs up for a 15% clip from deep during the entire contest. Junior forward Jeremy Kalonji was the only Adrian player to hit double digits in the second half, scoring 13 of his 21 points in the second half.
• Kalonji led the Bulldogs with 21 points, while sophomore guard Sam Colbert was the only other AC player in double digits, with 12 points.
• Kalonji and sophomore guard Jordan Harris tied for the team lead in rebounds with six. Each picked up five defensive and one offensive board.
• Collen Gurley led Mount Union with 14 points from the bench.
• Braedon Poole had the most rebounds for the Purple Raiders, picking up seven while also coming off the bench.
Adrian returns to action in 2019 on Thursday, Jan. 3 for the start of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. The Bulldogs open the conference slate on the road with a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Calvin.
