ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Adrian College men's basketball team dropped game one of the Mount Union Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 28, losing to Thomas More 89-57.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Adrian hung with Thomas More early in the game, with the score tied at eight after five minutes had elapsed. After that it was all Thomas More, as the Saints went on a 18-4 for a 26-12 lead which they didn't look back from. The Bulldogs would end up going into the half down by 21, by a score of 43-22.
The second half was a better showing for the Bulldogs, with juniors Jeremy Kalonji and Tre'Shon Heard each recording 11 points after the break. The Saints continued to add to their lead, extending it to 32 points by the game's end. They accomplished the victory with excellent shooting, connecting at a 54.5 % clip to Adrian's 35.5%. The Black and Gold were able to rotate a lot of players into the game, with 12 Bulldogs checking into the contest.
• Freshman forward Dontez Rayner led the Bulldogs with 12 points while Kalonji and Heard each finished with 11.
• Rayner also grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the team and finish with the double-double.
• Ryne Callahan led Thomas More in points and rebounds, with 24 and eight, respectively.
• Garren Bertsch led the Saints in assists with six.
The Bulldogs wrap up the Mount Union Holiday Classic and the year 2018 by playing host Mount Union tomorrow at 3 p.m.
