Defending MIAA Champion Baseball Formally Announces 2019 Schedule

ADRIAN, Mich.--The 2019 Adrian College baseball season gets underway on Saturday, March 2, as the Bulldogs head down to Birmingham, Alabama, where they'll play their first game against nationally-regarded Birmingham Southern College. The 40-game regular-season schedule includes 14 home dates, a 28-game conference slate and three contests versus preseason nationally-ranked teams (and five more "receiving votes") according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The following day at BSC, the Bulldogs will battle the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans, who are coming off a 30-win season and entering 2019 with a No. 13 preseason national ranking.

Adrian, too, is coming off a 30-win campaign--their 11th in a row--in which it posted a 35-12 overall mark and 24-4 for first place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association to extend their MIAA record of 10 conference championships in a row.

The 26th-ranked Bulldogs will then head over to Georgia where they'll square off against the Piedmont College Lions on Tuesday, March 5, which will serve as a reunion between the Bulldogs and former Adrian College assistant coach Luke Harris who is now on the PC staff. Adrian continues its spring break trip in the Southeast at Oglethorpe University (March 8-9).

A week later, the Bulldogs make another visit to the state of Georgia for a pair of neutral-site outings versus No. 11-ranked Cortland State Dragons (March 16) and Marietta Pioneers (March 17) in Mount Berry on the Berry College campus. Before that, Adrian will play the homestanding Berry Vikings on March 15.

After returning from Georgia, the Bulldogs will head to Tiffin, Ohio, and Heidelberg University for a regional game on Wednesday, March 20

Next, the Bulldogs will begin their MIAA title defense by opening conference play with a four-game set against the Alma Scots. The Bulldogs will be at Alma on Saturday, March 23and return to Nicolay Field on Sunday for the first home games of the year.

The Bulldogs will travel to 29th-ranked Baldwin-Wallace University for another regional matchup against the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, March 26.

The following weekend, Adrian will play a four-game conference series against the Kalamazoo Hornets, who finished second in the MIAA in 2018. The Bulldogs will be home on Saturday, March 30and will travel to Kalamazoo to close out the series on Sunday.

Next, the Bulldogs will play a MIAA series against the Comets of Olivet, which will begin with two games in Adrian on Saturday, April 6and will finish up with two games at Olivet on Sunday. The following weekend, the Bulldogs square off in another conference series against the Calvin Knights, with the first two games being at Calvin on Thursday, April 11and the last two games being in Adrian on Saturday, April 13.

On Sunday, April 14the Bulldogs travel to Ohio against the Wittenberg Tigers.

The Bulldogs will play their next conference series against the Albion Britons, which will begin on Friday, April 19at Albion, and will conclude on Saturday back home at the Nic.

On Wednesday, April 24, the Bulldogs travel to Indiana for their final non-conference game of the regular season at the Earlham Quakers with regional implications.

The Trine Thunder will be in town on Friday, April 26to begin another conference series for the Bulldogs. Adrian will then head to Trine on Saturday to finish up the series.

The Bulldogs will play their last conference series of the season in Holland against Hope, starting on Friday, May 3, and will finish it up at home on Saturday.
