BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College sophomore second baseman Brady Wood (Frankenmuth, Mich./Frankenmuth High School) has earned his first appearance on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. The Bulldogs also jumped three spots to No. 22 with 98 points in the latest D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top-25.
During Adrian's 4-0 week, Wood accounted for 14 runs with team highs of seven runs scored and seven runs batted in. He batted .588 (10-for-17) with three multiple-hit games and also led the Bulldogs with .611 on-base and .824 slugging percentages.
On the season, Wood is second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association with a .420 batting average. He also is fourth in slugging (.556) and fifth in on-base percentage (.484). Wood is 14th in NCAA Division III as the toughest-to-strikeout (27.0).
The Bulldogs are 24-5 overall with a seven-game winning streak and 18-2 in the MIAA. Adrian begins a four-game weekend series against Trine University at home on Friday (3 p.m. doubleheader) at Nicolay Field. Then on Saturday the teams play in Angola, Ind., for another twinbill starting at 1 p.m.
After several weeks of "receiving votes," Adrian made its season debut in the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-30 for NCAA Division III programs, released Tuesday. The Bulldogs took in 65 points for the 25th spot.
Trinity-Texas is ranked No. 1 in both national polls.
