FREELAND, Mich.--Junior Tommy Parsons (New Albany, Ohio) of the Adrian College baseball team has been named the season's first pitcher of the week by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, which was announced on Monday.
Parsons struck out 15 in a two-hit complete game shutout against Transylvania, 3-0, on Saturday. That figure is the second-best in the NCAA this season and among top the five performances in Adrian single-season history.
Against Berry on Feb. 26, he struck out three with no walks in six innings of work in 4-2 setback on the road.
In his first two starts during the period that covered this award week, the business management compiled a 1.80 earned-run average and had 18 strikeouts in 15 innings of work without issuing a single walk.
Parsons has earned the MIAA Pitcher of the Week four times during his Bulldogs career.
