ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College bass fishing team's head-to-head Ranger Cup University Challenge victory over archival Bethel University (Tenn.) in a battle of two of the nation's top-ranked programs will be chronicled on national television by Pursuit Channel, according to CarecoTV. At the time of their meeting, Adrian was ranked No. 1 in the Association of Collegiate Anglers poll while Bethel was listed fifth.
No stranger to national TV, Bulldogs Bass Fishing also has appeared on NBC Sports and the Discovery Channel during its history. Besides Pursuit Channel, the Challenge will be shown regionally on NBC Chicago and Fox Sports Midwest.
Adrian defeated Bethel in a dual last month, 87.30 pounds (31 fish) to 66.09 (25 fish), with no limit on fish within the time allowed to catch. The Jan. 8-9 event was held on Fayette County Lake in central Texas. The competitors were Jack Hippe and Nick Czajka of Adrian and Cole Floyd and Carter McNeil representing Bethel. Czajka and Hippe led after each of the five weigh-ins en route to the whopping 21 pound victory, battling varying conditions that included wind, calm and air temperature fluctuations of 20 degrees.
Adrian and Bethel earned well-deserved qualifying as the highest Ranger Cup finishers at both the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops and FLW college series championship earlier in 2018.
