TIFFIN, Ohio – The Adrian College track and field team ran at the Tiffleberg Open on Saturday, April 6 and had a strong performance, with the men coming in 5th place and the women taking 11th. Two performances on the men's side but the Bulldogs in the top five, with the 4x100 team posting the fastest time in all of Division III and sophomore Daz Lawrence currently in fifth-place in the high jump.
MEN'S TOP PERFORMANCES
The 4x100 team came in second place with a time of 41.16, finishing only behind Division II Tiffin. All four members of the relay team: seniors Randy Fry and Jordan Davis, and sophomores Donovan Ervin and Marcus Higginbottom were on last year's All-American relay team.
In individual sprints, the Bulldogs went 4-5-6 in the 100-meters, with Fry, Ervin, and Higginbottom leading the D3 pack and Davis placed seventh in the 400-meters, setting a new PR with a time of 50.52.
AC placed in both the hurdles events, with Davis coming in fifth in the 110-meters and sophomore Idris Daranijoh picking up the four team points in the 400-meters. Daranijoh set a new PR in the 400-meters with his time of 57.39.
A pair of freshmen picked up points in the middle distances, with Brendan Jorgensen and Robert Diebold placing in the 800-meters and 1500-meters, respectively. Jorgensen set a new PR with a 2:01.54 in the 800 and Diebold set one in the 1500, finishing with a time of 4:13.51
Adrian had another second-place finish on the day when Lawrence picked up eight team points in the high jump. He set a new PR with a height of 6'9" and led the D3 jumpers, finishing behind Tiffin. Right behind Lawrence were sophomore Nicholas Jackson and junior John Hamilton, finishing in third and fifth place, respectively.
WOMEN'S TOP PERFORMANCES
Freshman Sydney Feekings set a pair of PRs in middle distance, running a 2:40.67 in the 800-meters and a 5:19.81 in the 1500-meters, both good for top-20 finishes.
Freshman Torrie Summers set a PR for the second week in a row, setting personal bests in the 200-meters and 100-meter hurdles, coming in 11th place in the hurdles with her time of 16.49.
Senior Rayona Hart-Wilson picked up six points for the Black and Gold with her third-place finish in the long jump, a distance of 16'11.5".
Adrian's final team point came in the discus throw where freshman Randy Swank set a new PR with her throw of 111'6".
The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend when they head over to Rochester, Michigan on Saturday, April 13 for the Golden Grizzlies Invitational, hosted by Oakland University.
