NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Adrian College Men's and Women's track and field teams sent a few athletes to the Last Chance meet at North Central College in hopes of gaining qualifiers to the NCAA Indoor Nationals meet hosted at Grinnell College next weekend. There were a few personal bests set at the meet, which featured competition from many D-III schools.
Senior Kelsea Sellers went to the meet hoping to improve on her 60m dash time, which is among the nation's best. Sellers was pushed by many athletes, but managed to win the race, setting a personal best of 7.76 seconds.
The margin between first place and fifth place was only one tenth of a second, but Sellers got the improvement she was hoping for, as she bested her previous time of 7.80 seconds. She currently sits at seventh in the nation in the 60, with the top 15 runners qualifying for Nationals.
Junior Alicia Fowler also competed on the Women's side in the 800m run. Fowler ran to a fourth place finish in the event at 2:18.44.
For the Men, junior Chad Allemon was a top finisher in two events. Allemon ran to a third place finish at 22.97 seconds in the 200m dash, followed by an 8th place finish in the 400m run at 50.98.
The Bulldogs will find out Monday morning how many if any runners will have qualified for the Indoor Nationals meet.
