HILLSDALE, Mich. – It was a record setting weekend for the Adrian College track & field team as junior Megan Meier (Plainwell, Mich./Allegan) set the school record in the shot put with a distance of 12.59m (41-03.75 ft) to finish eighth. Fellow junior Kelsea Sellers (Montpelier, Ohio/North Central) set the 100m dash record in a time of 12.46 finishing 10th.
Derek Stoll led the men's squad with three top-20 finishes, taking fifth in the shot put, 12th in discus and 17th in the hammer throw. Stoll threw for distances of 15.38m, 43.24m and 43.85m respectively. In other field events, Trent Morris placed eighth in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.26m. Marshawn Selby had two top-10 performances placing ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.35m and 10th in the long jump with a leap of 6.51m. Aaron Wielfaert placed 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.95m while Colby Aures finished 14th in the javelin with a throw of 40.15m
The men's 4x100m relay had another strong showing as they finished seventh in a time of 42.81 with team members Alex Cameron, Garrett Waidelich, Chad Allemon and Zach Smith. Allemon also placed 16th in the 400m with a time of 50.83. In the 100m hurdles, Christopher Giarmo finished in a time of 15.97 to place 16th.
Other top finishers on the women's side included Heather Strong who placed ninth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:58.77. Alicia Fowler placed 11th in the 800m with a time of 2:15.77. In the 400m hurdles, Senneca Scott finished with a time of 1:06.22 to place 17th.
Meier broke her previous mark in the shot put of 41-0.5 ft which she set in 2009. Sellers broke the previous mark by former All-American Amanda Haines of 12.48 which was set in 2004.
Adrian will travel to Olivet College for the MIAA Field Day on May 5 and 6 starting at 10:00am.
