ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Adrian College track & field teams participated in the Grand Valley State University Big Meet over the weekend. The team turned in 42 personal records and had a field athlete provisionally qualify for the NCAA championships.
Junior Derek Stoll placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 15.58m which makes him a provisional qualifier for the event at the Indoor Championships that will take place March 11-12 at Capital University. Stoll also has a solid showing in the Weighted Throw with a distance of 14.56 m to finish 24th. Freshman Jacob Mehr finished 14th in the Shot Put with a distance of 14.59m. Fellow junior Adam Gilbertson placed 22nd in the High Jump with a leap of 1.79m. Sophomore Trent Morris placed 11th in the Pole Vault clearing a height of 4.35m. Freshman Colby Aures finished 24th in the Pole Vault with a height of 3.90m.
Aaron Wielfaert, a sophomore, finished 15th in the 400 meters completing the run in a time of 50.45. Another sophomore, Chad Allemon, finished the 4000 in a time of 50.99 to place 22nd. In the 600m run, freshman Garrett Johnson finished with a time of 1:28.57 to finish 20th.
In the field events for the women, Megan Meier, a junior, threw a distance of 11.56m in the Shot Put to finish 19th. Finishing 18th in the 5,000m was sophomore Heather Strong with a time of 19:28.05 and fellow sophomore Holly Payne finished just behind her with a time of 19:29.26.
Junior Kelsea Sellers finished 25th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.26. In the 600m run, sophomore Alicia Fowler finished in 17th place completing the race in a time of 1:43.92.
Adrian will return to Grand Valley on Friday, February 18 for another indoor meet.
