ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College ACHA men's hockey team held the visiting Canisius Golden Griffins scoreless for a second consecutive evening to sweep the weekend series with an 8-0 win on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs scored four times in the second period to break open a one goal game, then adding three third period goals for the victory.
Brad Kobryn scored the first of his three goals for the evening to give Adrian the advantage at the first intermission. Adrian scored three times in the first five minutes in period number two, getting goals from Kobryn, Josh Hosking, and Dominic Moore. Chris Donaldson later added a power play goal to up the Adrian lead to 5-0 at the intermission.
Kobryn completed the hat trick with the opening goal of the third period, while Marcel Kottek and Austin Kuhn rounded out the scoring with their first goals of the season. Kottek also led the Bulldogs with a pair of assists.
Austyn Roudebush was in goal to record his second shutout in as many nights, stopping 11 Golden Griffins shots. The Golden Griffins goaltenders receive considerably more work, as starter Eric Piotrowski gave way to Dominick Tallarico, with each man giving up four goals on 56 Adrian shots.
The Bulldogs are now 2-0 and will finish a three game home stand on Friday, October 10 when they host Kent State at 7pm. Canisius's record now stands at 1-3.
