The roster is comprised of six seniors, two juniors, 12 sophomores and nine freshmen. As expected, it features a very diverse group with student-athletes from all over the world, including the states of Michigan (10), Ohio (2), Indiana (1), Missouri (1), Washington (1), Canadian provinces of Ontario (7), British Columbia (1), Alberta (3), Quebec (1) and other countries Czech Republic (1) and Serbia (1).
"I am very happy with our final roster," said Coach Gary Astalos, who begins his second season at the helm of the ACHA D-1 Bulldogs and was named the 2016-17 GLCHL Coach of the Year. "While we certainly have a younger group, we will be talented. Our returners will do a great job of leading the way for us."
The bulldogs have also announced that Kobryn, a senior, classmate Justin Fisher and sophomore J.P. Grineau have been selected assistant captains who will join senior team captain Archie McKinnon to lead the team for the 2017-18 season.
"While we truly have a team of leaders on our club, these four young men will steer the ship for us. I have the upmost confidence they will lead by example and help us reach our team goals this year" stated Astalos.
The Bulldogs will open the season during the College's Homecoming weekend, Sep. 28-29, for 7 p.m. puckdrop against Canisius College at Arrington Ice Arena. Fans, however, can get a glimpse of the new team on Friday and Saturday in the previous weekend for a pair of exhibition games at home against Chicago Cougars (4:30 p.m.) and Indiana Tech (1 p.m.).
