ACHA Women’s Hockey Blows Past Robert Morris, 5-1, After Allowing First Period Goal

ADRIAN, Mich.--Robert Morris scored first on Friday night, but the Adrian ACHA women's hockey team dominated the rest of the way, scoring five unanswered goals to win its season opener 5-1 over the Eagles at Arrington Ice Arena.

The Eagles scored the only goal of the first period on a power play goal by Allyson Zachwieja to take a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. But the final 40 minutes belonged to Adrian, as five different Bulldogs found the back of the net to lead Adrian to victory.

The Bulldogs scored twice in period number two, as Nicole Paradis (Orangeville, ON) and Sabrena Camp (Rochester Hills, MI) scored goals one minute and seventeen seconds apart to give Adrian a 2-1 lead.

The Bulldogs poured it on in the third period, as Jessie Rushing (Hernando, Miss.) scored first to make it 3-1 at the 10:56 mark, and Kallie Hardy (Waterloo, ON) scored again 4:22 later to up the Bulldog advantage to 4-1. Morgan Praska (Douglas, WY) ended of the scoring with her first goal of the year with just 2:07 left in the game to make the final 5-1.

Alison Dungey (Hamilton, ON) earned her first win of the year in goal for Adrian stopping nine shots on the evening, while Robert Morris goalie Laura Noble at a much busier evening in the Eagles cage making 28 saves in the contest.

The two teams will face off again on Saturday to conclude their two-game series at Arrington Ice Arena starting at 3:00 p.m.
