Kalamazoo, Mich.- Adrian College rebounded from a heartbreaking loss to Kalamazoo College to rout Finlandia in a three set sweep. The Bulldogs took out their frustration and dominated all three sets on their way to a victory (25-3, 25-9, 25-15) to improve to 6-13 overall on the season.
The Bulldogs went on runs of 11 and 12 points in the first set to cruise to their most dominating set victory of the season. In the second set, Adrian College fell behind early 5-1, but immediately rallied to go on two separate runs of five and six points. The third set saw the Bulldogs take an early 4-0 lead that they never squandered on their way to a commanding 25-15 set win and 3-0 match victory.
Adrian College had contributors from all ends of their roster during this impressive victory. Seven separate Bulldogs recorded kills, seven recorded assists, four had service aces, and 12 different Bulldogs had digs. The offense was led by Linnea Berriman who had nine kills and a hitting percentage of .818. Marissa Dion led Adrian with 19 assists and Kristi Walker compiled seven digs as well as four service aces.
Coach David Kwan was pleased with how his team rebounded today, "I was proud of the team for handling Finlandia the way they did after a frustrating first match. We need to continue to perform and train like an elite program, and I am committed to doing that with this program to be better nationally."
The Bulldogs will be back in conference play on Wednesday, October 9th in a home match at 6:30 p.m. against Albion.
