Ann Arbor, Mich. – The Adrian College women's tennis team secured their first win of the season by defeating Concordia University 8-1 on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead after the three doubles matchups completed. Adrian's Arielle Williams and Morgan Spencer defeated Concordia's Jenna Smith and Sarah Wakefield 8-3 at number one doubles. McKenzie Krieg and Amber Laginess defeated Monica Lee and Mackenzie Devine 8-1 at number three doubles. Renae Almasy and Victoria Watson were defeated 8-5 by Rachel Niermann and Megan Hamilton during the number two doubles match.
The Bulldogs would dominate the rest of the day winning all six singles matchups. Arielle Williams defeated Rachel Niermann (6-1, 6-1) in number one singles. Morgan Spencer defeated Jenna Smith (6-1, 6-2) at number two. Renae Almasy defeated Alex Beall (6-2, 6-2) at number three. Amber Laginess defeated Sarah Wakefield (6-0, 6-0) at number four. McKenzie Krieg defeated Megan Hamilton (6-2, 6-0) at number five. Victoria Watson defeated Kaylee Tucker (6-2, 6-2) at number six.
Adrian's season continues this Saturday, September 19 when the Bulldogs travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Crusaders of Capital University.
