GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the first time in the history of women's tennis the team has begun a season 3-0 after a 7-2 win at Cornerstone University on Wednesday. The Bulldogs breezed through doubles against the Eagles (0-5) building a 3-0 lead. The biggest win came at one doubles as Kelsi Black and Arielle Williams won 8-0 over Janie Silvers and Allison Rusticus.
Rusticus and Alyssa Bart did pick up singles wins for the Eagles as Adrian won the first three singles matches and also claimed a win in the fifth spot. Black and Williams each blanked their opponent (6-0, 6-0) and Kylee Bezeau won 6-3, 6-2 at three singles over Silvers. Justine Hanson picked up the five singles win over Ashley Greene by scores of 1-6, 6-0, 11-9.
"It is great to see strides being made in the program," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "The team can start believing in each other and I think our confidence should carry us throughout the rest of the fall and in particular into this weekend's MIAA flighted tournament in Holland."
