Bulldogs Bow to the Scots 5-4

ALMA, Mich. - The Adrian College Women's Tennis team continued their 2012 campaign on Tuesday when they traveled to Alma College. The match was played indoors at the Stone Recreation Center due to the cold and windy weather outside. The Scots defeated the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4 to improve to 4-3 in the MIAA and 10-6 overall, while Adrian is now 2-3 in the league and 5-5 in 2012.

The Bulldogs dropped consecutive matches for just the second time this season and had their chances in this one. Adrian won two of the three doubles matchups. Shelby Kruszewski and Sarah Kean improved to 4-6 as a tandem this season with an 8-5 win at one doubles over Jen Meloche and Erin Clutter. Sarah Brooks and Shannon Woods teamed up for an 8-6 win at two doubles over Katie Meloche and Amy Baranowski. The pairing is now 6-2 this season as Brooks picked up her 25th career doubles win and Woods her 24th career doubles win.

Alma's top flight players sealed the win by winning the first four matchups. Woods went into a third set at two singles against Clutter. She won 6-1 in the first set and then dropped 7-5, 6-2 consecutive sets. Kean also stretched her match with a good first set before falling 7-6 and then 6-1 in the second set. Jordenne Ferenczi cruised to a 7-5, 6-2 win at five singles over Maleah Benn. Ferenczi is now 6-4 in singles play this season and 10-9 in her career. Sarah Sokolowski also was victorious at six singles by the scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 over Lauren Moreau. Sokolowski is now 6-3 in singles play this season.

Adrian will host Saint Mary's on Saturday, April 14 at 1 PM in their next action.
