25th-ranked Denison Scores Twice in Second Half For 2-1 Win
GRANVILLE, Ohio – The first test of 2010 was looking good for the Adrian College women’s soccer team as they headed into the final push at 25th-ranked Denison University on Wednesday. Denison had other ideas as they scored back-to-back goals at 69:24 and 71:48 to pull out a 2-1 win over the visiting Bulldogs.
Brittany Moreau put Adrian ahead at the 19:48 mark as she
scored on a wide-open net after a cross from Sam Barker. The
Bulldogs led by a goal at intermission as they were outshot 11-4 in
the first half.
Denison kept putting the pressure on the Bulldogs to begin the
second half and they eventually tied the game as Clare Meernik took
a cross from Jenn Sloan and put it in the back of the net. It took
just 2:24 later for Denison to take the lead as Libbie Randolph
scored on a through-ball from Tory Danis and put the ball in the
lower left for the game-winner.
Denison had a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. Jen Clemmer led
Denison with three shots on goal. Anika Johnson had a few chances
with three shots on goal in her debut for Adrian. Chayna Wallace
