Women's Soccer Falls to No. 17 Hope in Battle of Conference Unbeatens

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team suffered its first loss in conference play to Hope by a score of 1-0 on Saturday, Oct. 13.

THE BASICS

Records: Hope 10-1-2 (4-0-1 MIAA), Adrian 7-5-1 (4-1-0 MIAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half was a defensive battle, with only five shots finding their way on net. It was mostly even, with Hope taking three and Adrian two.

It wouldn't be until the 81st minute when the tie would be broken, as the Flying Dutch were able to slip one into the Bulldogs' net. Hope was awarded a corner and the ensuing ball led to a scrum in the box where the Flying Dutch were able to knock it home.

• Junior Caroline Fleming took both of Adrian's shots on goal.

• Junior Ayverie Giller made eight saves in the loss.

THE OPPOSITION

• Rylie Dalton scored the match's only goal.

• Goalkeeper Jordanne Ellingboe made two saves for her eighth clean sheet.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs wrap-up their three-match home stand on Tuesday, Oct. 16 when they host St. Mary's at 7 p.m. It's the last conference home match on the year for the Black and Gold.
