Bulldogs Suffer Overtime Loss to Crosstown Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team lost to cross-town foes Siena Heights in overtime on Wednesday, Sep. 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the second time in three games for Adrian, the game was scoreless after 90 minutes despite heavy pressure from the Bulldogs. The Black and Gold outshot Siena Heights 17-6 in regulation but could not get one past the Saints' keeper.

Adrian was guilty of a foul in the box in the 95th minute, giving Siena Heights a penalty kick. The Saints converted giving the Bulldogs their second overtime loss from a penalty kick on the season.

The penalty kick was the only shot in the overtime period, giving AC a 17-7 shot advantage over Siena Heights. The Bulldogs also earned nine corner kicks in the contest, with the Saints being awarded none.

TOP DOGS

• Junior Caroline Fleming led the Bulldogs in shots with four.

• Sophomore Megan Louwers and freshman Sabrina Weir each added three shots on the day.

THE OPPOSITION

• Taylor Mulder took five of the Saints' shots and scored the lone goal, her eighth of the season.

• Goalkeeper Kara Bishop stopped all eight shots that were on net.

The Bulldogs host Michigan-Dearborn in the home opener at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 15.
