FREELAND, Mich. - Adrian College women's soccer players Rachel Rodeheffer and Caroline Fleming were named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer defensive and offensive player of the week honorees this week.
Rodeheffer, a defender, scored her first goal in an Adrian uniform this season in a 2-1 win over Calvin on Friday (Oct. 27). She was also instrumental in helping the Bulldogs to their eighth and ninth shutout on the season. The first coming early in the week over Kalamazoo, 4-0, and the last one over St. Mary's, 2-0, in the final regular season game last night.
Fleming scored a point in every game for the week. She tallied a goal, the game-winner, and an assist in the 4-0 win over Kalamazoo early in the week. She assisted on the tying goal in a 2-1 win over Calvin and then finished off her week by scoring another game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over St. Mary's to wrap up the regular season. The sophomore forward is the current point scorer for Adrian with a regular season total of 29 points (10g,9a).
This is Rodeheffer's first career MIAA player of the week award and Fleming's second (she earned her first earlier this season). This is also the first time this year that Adrian College has swept the women's player of the week.
Rodeheffer and Fleming will lead the Bulldogs on the road against Olivet in the Semifinal round of the MIAA tournament on Thursday, November 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., ET.
