ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's and women’s rowing teams were scheduled to head to Rockford, Ill., this weekend, to race in the Head of the Rock regatta on Sunday. But now first-year head coach Bart Thompson has announced a schedule change that brings a home scrimmage to Devils Lake.

Due to heavy rains in the area, the Head of the Rock was canceled earlier this week, which left the team looking for a last-minute racing partner.

“When I found out that the Head of the Rock was canceled, I immediately looked up which other teams had been planning to attend and started calling those programs’ coaches," Thompson said."Thankfully, we were able to secure a home (exhibition) dual against Case Western Reserve University on Saturday afternoon, which now becomes our inaugural home race.”

Racing between the two colleges will begin around 4 p.m. and last until about 6 p.m.

Thompson also stated that the regatta staging site for the race against CWRU will be at the Bulldogs’ boathouse.

“We’re excited to have an opportunity for all of our available rowers to get in a race against a team that matches up well in size and experience. It should be a fun test for our program, and a wonderful and rare opportunity to get to race at home.”
