Bulldogs Fall in Home Opener 12-8

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's lacrosse team fell 12-8 in home opener versus Illinois Wesleyan on Sunday.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Adrian 8, Illinois Wesleyan 12 – FINAL

Location: Adrian, Michigan (Docking Stadium) Records: Adrian (0-3), Illinois Wesleyan (4-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED

○ Adrian scored the first four goals of the game to take 4-0 lead

 Illinois Wesleyan scored the next three goals to pull within one goal of the Bulldogs

○ Adrian would score two additional goals to take a 6-4 lead into halftime

○ The Titans would score the first three goals of the second half to take the lead, 7-6 with 17:18 left in the second half

○ Adrian would respond with a goal a little over five minutes later to tie the score at 7 all before the Titans would regain the lead for the final time, scoring three straight goals to go up 10-7

TOP DOGS

Jenna Carter and Annika Nuler each had a hat trick, contributing six of the Bulldog's eight goals

Annie Rice led all players with four assists

○ Rice also tallied one goal and a team leading four ground balls

○ Nuler recorded three caused turnovers

THE OPPOSITION

○ Four Illinois Wesleyan players scored two goals each: Clarke Rich, Grainne Kelly, Dani Engelbreit and Sam Bidlack

○ Lauran Pavich would contribute one goal and two assists

○ Rich and Engelbreit had seven ground balls

○ Rich also tallied four caused turnovers
