SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The women's lacrosse team could not match Wittenberg in a high-scoring game on Tuesday afternoon falling 23-18 to the Tigers. Adrian now sits at 1-3 overall and did not have enough second half scoring after the game was tied 11-11 at the break.
Wittenberg scored 12 goals in the final 30 minutes while Adrian had seven. The Bulldogs took advantage of their free-position shots going 7-of-10 while the Tigers were 0-of-3. Adrian had a slim 21-19 edge in draw controls for the game. Maddie Dugan paced the Bulldogs with a career-high eight goals and also had the team's only assist.
The Tigers pulled away after the score was 17-16 at the 10:48 mark. Wittenberg scored six of the game's last eight goals. Olivia Lash, Carrie Kubasta and Logan Warye scored in 1:56 to stretch the home lead to 20-16 with 7:46 left. Dugan and Brianna Plester scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 20-18 with 3:54 remaining. Megan Loofbourrow then scored the last three goals in the final 2:12 of the game for the five-goal cushion.
Plester finished with two goals and six draw controls. Hannah Early had a goal on two shots on goal while also registering 13 draw controls and three ground balls. TaShina Salas scored four goals on four shots on net and had five ground balls. Christine Campbell also scored a pair of free-position goals for the contest. Jul Tehovnik made eight saves in the game including six in the first half.
