KEUKA PARK, NY – The women's lacrosse team (7-2) won their fourth game in the last five starts with a win over Keuka College (2-2). Adrian's Stacey Birlson scored with just 30 seconds left to break a 10-10 tie and power the Bulldogs to victory at Jephson Community Athletic Complex Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs mounted an impressive comeback by scoring six of the game's last seven goals with Birlson leading the way.
She scored four of the team's last five goals- all in the game's last 14 minutes. After Birlson drew Adrian within two goals at 9-7, with an assist from Nicol Parker, Heather Newblom made it a one-goal game at 9-8, setting the stage for Birlson's late heroics.
Birlson tied the game at 9-9 completing a comeback after being down 9-5. When the Storm came back to take a late 10-9 lead, it was Birlson who tied and then won the game in its last three minutes.
In all, she tied the game twice late and scored the winner with three unassisted goals. In addition to her four total goals, she also added three assists and was in on all but four Adrian goals. She also led the Bulldogs in groundballs with eight and caused-turnovers with three.
The Storm took a 5-4 lead after the first two quarters, and built a 9-5 lead before the rally began.
Maddie McDonald recorded six saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
Adrian bested the Storm in groundballs, 31-23, and also overall shots, 31-20.
The Bulldogs will continue to head east on the road to face Worcester State tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
