Women’s Lacrosse Announces Captains for 2011 Campaign
Adrian College head women’s lacrosse coach John Sung has
announced the four captains for 2011, as the Bulldogs fall season
came to a close after they had a successful fall scrimmage against
Division I University of Cincinnati. The Bulldogs fell 12-10 to the
Bearcats.
Seniors Amanda Faraone and Andrea Soloko along with juniors Rachel
Johnston and Amanda Lambert have been named captains of the
women’s lacrosse team for the 2010-2011 season. Faraone,
Lambert, and Johnston are serving their third years as captains.
Soloko will be serving the role for the first time in her career.
All were voted on by their teammates.
Faraone (Mentor, Ohio) has been a great leader on and off the field
for the past three seasons serving as both a starting and backup
goaltender. Faraone was named to the IWLCA Honor Roll this past
season as well.
Johnston (St. Catharines, Ont.) is coming off a sophomore season
where she led the team with 101 points. She was also named First
Team IWLCA All-Region for the second consecutive season.
Lambert (Suffern ,N.Y.) was also named First Team IWLCA All-Region
for the second consecutive season. She was second on the team
with 88 points as a sophomore. Lambert also led the team with 51
draw controls and 50 ground balls. Lambert was named the 2010 team
MVP.
Soloko (Northville, Mich.) begins her first year as captain coming
off a junior campaign in which she had 18 points. Soloko brings a
great work ethic and grit to the group. She also brings great
creativity on and off the field.
After a 14-3 record last season, these four look to build off of a
successful fall and lead the Bulldogs towards another winning
campaign and their first NCAA Tournament birth. The Bulldogs open
the season on February 26th at Christopher Newport University.
