DULUTH, Minn. - The league office announced that sophomore Kelly O'Sullivan and freshman Kate Turner from the Adrian College women's hockey team were named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) players of the week. O'Sullivan, a defender, was named the offensive player of the week; Turner was named the defensive player of the week.
O'Sullivan scored five points (2g,3a) in two shutout victories to open the season. She outscored every other NCHA player for the week. She scored twice and tallied an assist in a 6-0 win over Stevenson on day one of the "Bulldog Bowl." She followed that performance up with an assist in a 3-0 win over No. 4 Wisconsin-River Falls to help the Bulldogs win the Bulldog Bowl championship trophy. She was also an integral part in Adrian outscoring opponents 9-0 to start the season. O'Sullivan was named to the Bulldog Bowl All-Tournament Team.
Turner made 34 saves in two shutout wins, including 22 saves in a 3-0 win over Wisconsin-River Falls. She is the first freshman goalie to start the season with two shutout wins for the Bulldogs since 2009. She was named to the Bulldog Bowl All-Tournament team for her performance.
Adrian opens conference play this weekend with a two-day road trip to face Northland on Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5. Friday's game is set to start at 8:00 p.m., ET.
