OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Adrian College women's hockey team, under the guidance of first-year head coach Chad Davis, opened up the regular season with a 3-0 win over Oswego State (N.Y.) today (Oct. 28).
Adrian scored one goal in each period. Ashley Gniewek scored first for the Lady Bulldogs at the 11:27 mark during a power play. Danielle Smith and Kelly Salis earned the assists. Hannah McGowan (16:49) and Kristin Maton (16:55) registered a goal in the second and third period, respectively. McGowan's goal also came on a power play.
All-American goalie Emily Michelin gathered in game-high 40 saves and played in all 60 minutes.
Maton led the offense with six shots. For the game, Oswego outshot Adrian 40-30, with the Lady Bulldogs having the edge in the first period with a 15-8 advantage.
Adrian and Oswego will face off again tomorrow, October 29 at 4:00 p.m.
