Lady Golfers Finish Fifth at MIAA Spring Qualifier

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Adrian College women's golf team wrapped up their season with a fifth place finish at the MIAA Spring Qualifier.

The Bulldogs closed out the three round tournament with the final two rounds at the par-72, 5,889 yard Blackthorn Golf Club with rounds of 376-380-756. The Bulldogs had previously shot 373 in the first round for a three round total of 1129 to finish in fifth place, just one shot ahead of Albion. St. Mary's won the MIAA automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament with a team total or 970.

Freshman Ariel Gruber (Pioneer, Ohio/North Central) led the way for Adrian shooing 92-91-183. Fellow freshman Chelsey Wyman (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) improved on the second day firing rounds of 94-91-185. Senior Kelly Behen (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) shot rounds of 92-95-187. Another freshman, Marissa Souter (Norwalk, Ohio/Norwalk) finished the weekend with rounds of 99-103-202. Junior Leanna Stockard (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 98-105-203.

The fifth place finish by the Bulldogs is the highest they have ever finished at the three round Spring Qualifier since the MIAA went to the format in 2006.
