Cheer and Dance Win Columbus Competition

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Adrian College Cheerleading and Dance Teams competed at the COA Pure Championships this Sunday, in Columbus, Ohio. This was the first time the cheerleaders have competed in the 2013 season.

They had a great performance executing their routines leading them to first place finish in their respective division. All-girl squad defeated The University of Rio Grande of Rio Grande, Ohio.

"For the adversity the cheerleading teams have overcome in the past few weeks, really made me a proud coach. I am confident this year the cheer teams will end up on top in their national championships", said Head Coach Regina Smith.

The dance team however, was overtaken by Wilmington College of Ohio, a team they defeated in their last competition, causing them to be runner-ups.

"The dance team learned a new routine over the past two weeks, and just was not able to execute it as well as I hoped. I am looking forward to seeing how the dance team comes back in the next competition", said Smith.

This weekend both cheer teams will be competing again in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois. The dance team's next competitions are after spring break in mid-March.
