Balanced Offense Leads Women's Basketball to MIAA Road Win at Olivet, 75-59

OLIVET, Mich.--Sophomore transfer Emily Somerville scored a game-high 20 points to lead five Bulldogs in double digits as the Adrian women's basketball team defeated host Olivet, 75-59, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action on Wednesday.

TOP 'DAWGS
Somerville made seven of 11 field goals, including 5-for-6 from three-point range. She also had four rebounds and three assists.

= Freshman Rachel Bucher scored a career-best 15 points on 6-for-7 field goal shooting off the bench. She added four rebounds.

= Sophomores Angelina Goosby and Alivia Kondrath scored 11 points each. Goosby also pulled down 11 rebounds to tie her season high, while Kondrath dished four assists.

= Freshman Sha'Trice Graves registered her second-straight double-double with 10 points and game-leading 11 rebounds in just 17 minutes off the bench. She also swatted four shots.

= Junior Ashley Morris tied for the game lead with five assists to go along with five rebounds and eight points.

THE OPPOSITION
= Sydnee Dennis went 6-for-11 from the arc to score a team-high 18 points.

= Bridget Garter netted 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.

= Fayth Talbert chipped in 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian shot 47.4 percent from the field (27-57) while holding the Comets to just 20-68 (29.4), and had a 48 to 39 rebounding advantage.

= The Bulldogs dominated the paint (33-20) and bench points (25-3).

= The contest featured five ties and eight lead changes through the first 27 minutes.

= But Adrian took control late in the third quarter after Grace White (8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) made a layup for Olivet's last lead at 43-41 with 3 minutes and 31 seconds to go. The Bulldogs responded with a 14-0 run behind a barrage of 3balls to take a 55-43 cushion into the fourth. Bucher swished a trey from the left wing with 1 second remaining among seven points during the run, Somerville found long range and Morris drained a three-pointer.

= Olivet managed to get within five points, 62-57 on a Grace Clark (5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) three-point shot, but the Bulldogs had another answer to end the final 5 minutes on a 13-2 run to clinch the victory.

= Adrian led at the end of each quarter: 21-17, 32-30 and 55-43.

= The Comets' biggest lead occurred at the 3:42 mark of the opening quarter as Shawnee Dame (3 points, 3 rebounds) made two free throws. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian has won back-to-back contests, averaging 79.5 points which is well above its 60.8 pace on the season.

= The Bulldogs have won three-straight in the series and now lead the Comets 70-28 all-time. Adrian is 31-14 in Olivet.

= Graves has amassed 28 rebounds in her last two appearances, including a career-best 17 vs Illinois Tech Saturday for the third-best mark in a game in AC history.

= Adrian is 3-2 on the road this season.

= Adrian set a program record tonight for three-point field goal percentage at 61.1 percent, making 11 of 18 from the arc. The previous mark was .556 (10-18) accomplished two times and most recently on Jan. 24, 2015 against Hope College.
