FREELAND, Mich.--Adrian College women's basketball freshman guard Sadia Johnson (Kalamazoo Central High School) has been named to the 2017 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Second Team, it was announced on Thursday.
Johnson made an immediate impact during her first season in the Bulldogs' lineup, averaging a team-leading 16.0 points per game (on 42.4 percent field goal shooting) for third in the MIAA. The biology major led Adrian in scoring during 14 games, including a career-high 26-point effort to fuel an 83-79 comeback win at Lancaster Bible on Dec. 15.
Johnson's 383 total points are believed to be a program freshman scoring record and just 15 points shy of the Bulldogs' top-10 for a single season.
Her attacking style of play resulted in 92 free throws made on 123 attempts, ranking second in the conference, for a .748 percentage (seventh). Her 133 field goals made also ranked seventh in the MIAA.
Johnson also contributed 68 rebounds, 39 assists and 35 steals.
During the season, the Kalamazoo native twice received MIAA Player of the Week honors (Dec. 19, Jan. 30).
