Sadia Johnson's Game-High 21 Points Powers Women's Basketball Past K-zoo, 75-61

ADRIAN, Mich.--Freshman Sadia Johnson netted a game-high 21 points, sophomore Katie Crawford hauled in a team-best 10 rebounds, and the Adrian College women's basketball team led for most of the night to sting the visiting Kalamazoo College Hornets, 75-61, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action on Wednesday.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Johnson went 8-for-15 from the field and 5-of-7 at the free throw stripe. She also had eight rebounds and two steals.

= Sophomore Ashley Morris chipped in 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 2-for-5 from the three-point arc. 

= Classmate Shannon Garvey made 4-of-6 field goal attempts--including 2-for-4 from the arc--and 3-of-4 from the charity stripe for 13 points.

= Senior Brigitte Zavithsanos tied her career high with seven assists, which led all student-athletes and matched the number for the Hornets as a team.

= Freshman Angelina Goosby added six points and seven rebounds.

THE OPPOSITION
Grace Smith paced the Hornets' offense with a double-double of 15 points and game-high 11 rebounds off the bench.

Suzanne Miller and Libby Munoz contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Danielle Simon had six points, nine rebounds and two steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian shot 44.3 percent (27-61) from the field and held K-zoo to just 29.7 (22-74).

= The Bulldogs shared the ball very well, dishing 18 assists on 27 made baskets.

= A Simon lay-in gave the Hornets their only lead at 2-1. Garvey had one of her own on the ensuing Adrian possession off an offensive rebound, and the Bulldogs led for the final 38 minutes.

= Adrian ended the first quarter up 17-12 and extended the lead to 38-26 at halftime. The Bulldogs built the advantage to as much as 17 points in both halves.

= In the second half, K-zoo was able to cut the deficit to single-digits once but couldn't get closer than nine points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= With two steals today, junior college transfer Starnisha Harris takes over the Bulldogs lead with 34 steals. Zavithsanos has 33, as the teammates have alternated the last few games.

= Adrian sweeps the season series from K-zoo for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign, and now leads all-time over the Hornets, 65-30.

= The Bulldogs won 81-39 in Kalamazoo back on Nov. 30 in the conference opener, holding the Hornets to only a .209 field goal percentage.

= The K-zoo bench outscored Adrian's 31 to 14, and KC edged AC in rebounding, 49-48.

= The Hornets committed only nine turnovers to match a season low set on Dec. 8 at Thiel (lost, 83-74).
