OBERLIN, Ohio – The Bulldogs found themselves in a battle with the Yeowomen of Oberlin College Wednesday night. The two teams traded leads throughout the first half as the Bulldogs trailed 33-31 at the break. The Yeowomen were able to fight off Adrian in the final 20 minutes as they dropped the Bulldogs, 68-59.
The back and forth first half was highlighted by the Bulldogs playing stingy defense as they caused eight turnover with Brigitte Zavithsanos and Marissa Cotton each recording two steals. Jorden York led the Bulldog offense by going 3-3 from the field, including 2-2 from behind the arc, to total 10 points. Adrian erased a 17-10 deficit to take a 23-20 lead with six minutes remaining in the half, but the Yeowomen slowly battled back to hold the 33-31 lead at the break.
The second half saw the Bulldogs take the lead back, 34-33, but Oberlin made the next basket and did not surrender this lead again. Adrian fought Oberlin to a tight game throughout the remainder of the half as York scored eight more points and Amber McCullough came off of the bench to notch seven points. Oberlin was able to outlast the Bulldogs as they hung on for a 68-59 final score.
The Bulldogs finished with three players in double figures as York totaled 18 points while both Zavithsanos and McCullough each recorded 11.
The Bulldogs will see action again in their home opener when they host Ohio Norhern on November 22 at 3 p.m.
