ADRIAN, Mich. – The host Saints of Siena Heights (3-1) came out firing and did not let up handing the Adrian College women's basketball team a 67-51 defeat on Tuesday from SHU Fieldhouse. SHU nailed a three-pointer in the first 34 seconds and never trailed or let Adrian even tie them during the contest.

Adrian (0-3) trailed 12-4 in the first 5:23 of the game as Morgan Warfield scored five of those points for the Saints. Adrian called a timeout to stop the hot start and it seemed to work as they slowly chipped into the SHU lead. The Bulldogs cut the lead down to 16-14 going on a 12-4 run as Amy Van Gessel scored three points and Lauren Rhoads had a three-point play during the run.

Chandler Levit converted on a layup with 7:09 left in the first half to give Siena Heights a 25-16 lead going on a 9-2 run. The Saints led by double figures twice later in the half but the Bulldogs trimmed the lead down to 31-25 at the break. Both teams scored 14 points in the painted area in the first half.

Adrian kept the game in single digits up until the 11:08 mark as Taylor Langenderfer scored on a layup. The lead would grow to 20 points twice within a minute apart after Langenderfer made a triple at the 7:19 mark and Mackenzie Tomasik made a layup with 6:19 left in the game.

Adrian made a small dent into the lead cutting it down to 11 points with under 2:15 to play. Siena Heights made 5-of-6 at the line after that point to secure the victory. Siena Heights edged Adrian, 18-7, in points off turnovers even though Adrian had just 13. Adrian went cold from the floor going 26.9 percent (18-of-67) for the game. Siena Heights shot 37.7 percent (23-of-61) and were 18-of-24 (75 percent) from the line.

Junior LaQwana Dockery led all scorers with 16 points going 6-of-13 from the floor and pulled down nine rebounds. Sierra Calhoun led the home squad with 14 points and also grabbed nine boards. Senior Jasmine Byers grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds including seven offensive for the Bulldogs.
