HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian dominated defensively the whole match, finishing with a new program record of 13 blocks. Neither team could do much to pull away in the first set until the Bulldogs went up by three halfway through, capped off by back-to-back blocks. Lawrence Tech answered with seven straight points of their own, completed by three blocks in a row. Adrian didn't quit and went on a 12-4 run to win the first set, 25-21.

The Bulldogs' defense continued to roll early in the second set, as AC won its first two points on a pair of block. Adrian pulled away in the middle again, picking up three more blocks in a six-point run to go up 14-10. The Black and Gold would finish off the set with a 25-20 win, holding the Blue Devils to a -0.91 hitting pct. after holding them to a -0.74 hitting pct. in the first set.

It wasn't easy for Adrian to finish off Lawrence Tech, as the Blue Devils took the Bulldogs to the wire. AC was able to hold on for a 25-23 win in a much more offensive set, with both teams hitting .265 pct.

The win gives Adrian a victory in its first game of the season for the first time since becoming a varsity NCAA sport in 2016. The sweep is also the Bulldogs' seventh win in straight sets in AC's NCAA program history. The 13 blocks suprasses the previous record of 12, set twice last season.
