SOMEWHERE BEAUTIFUL, Italy--Four members--student-athletes Michael BurkhardtJoseph CampanaNoah Marcinkowski, and head coach Zak Krug--of the Adrian College men's volleyball team are spending the month of June honing their court skills against international competition and taking in the sights of the beautiful country of Italy. They are part of a Beyond Sports team that is touring six cities from June 10-19, and play local amateur clubs while experiencing the cultural opportunities that the country provides

Today we hear from Noah Marcinkowski, a junior-to-be from Menifee, Calif. (Heritage HS):

"The past couple of days have been non-stop enjoyment. It's really an amazing opportunity to be able to come tour Italy and visit some of the most historic places on earth. For example, the Vatican City. Watching documentaries and seeing photos is nothing compared to the experience you have when you walk through 20-foot doors and walk into the Basilica and recognize all the craftsmanship in the marble floors and walls. Even in the stone of the Colosseum, knowing that the structure was constructed so many years ago, and yet it still stands there today is remarkable considering what tools they had back then to construct these amazing cities. We also had the opportunity to visit 'Classic Rome,' which is known for the beautiful Trevi fountain. We had a lot of free time to explore the area and do some shopping. It was a great experience!

"The team we have here is filled with athletes who are all at a high playing level, and who also have a high love for the game. Things clicked so well for us right away, and it showed in our first match on Tuesday night vs Pallavolo Isola Sacra. We ran a quick-tempo offense which seemed to be a lot for our opponents to handle. Each team was effective and that made the game very exciting. We ended in a split decision (2-2). We have a great group of guys that are looking forward to the next three matches we have ahead!"

--Ciao from Italy, Noah Marcinkowski, ACMV Class of 2020
