ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The men's tennis program got a shot in the arm over the last two seasons and a major part of that success starts at the top. Sophomore Jordan Verbauwhede and freshman Joey Loselle were both named Second Team All-MIAA on Friday at the conclusion of the finals in the MIAA Tournament. The Bulldogs completed their season with the most wins in school history going 14-6 overall and 4-2 in the MIAA. The team placed in a tie for second place in the conference standings which was their best finish ever and advanced to the conference tournament for the first time in program history.
"This has been such an amazing year for the program and these two guys have been a big part of it," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "Jordan and Joey were tough all season and I'm very excited about what the future holds for them and our program."
Verbauwhede played in the No. 1 spot in singles and doubles throughout the season. He posted 11 singles wins which are the most for a No. 1 player in Adrian history and also picked up a pair of conference wins in singles. He teamed with Loselle in doubles and the tandem went 16-7 including 14-6 in dual matches. Loselle finished the season at 18-4 overall including 18-2 in dual matches playing in the No. 2 spot in singles. Loselle won his first seven matches to start his career and won five matches in a row two other times. He went 5-1 during conference play and set the freshman record for most singles wins.
