LEXINGTON, Ohio - The men's tennis team improved to 4-2 on Sunday with a 9-0 win over Heidelberg University and remained undefeated against Division III teams on the year.
The Bulldogs turned in a dominant performance over the Student Princes as Heidelberg fell to 1-1 overall. Adrian swept all three doubles matchups and gave up just seven games in the process. Jordan Verbauwhede and Joey Loselle had the biggest margin of victory with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over Zach Schwenning and Dorian Kempf. Michael Mertz and Spencer Georgetti at No. 2 doubles and the Alex duo of Amos and Kret at No. 3 doubles both won 8-3.
"This was the first match of the spring season and I thought our guys came out ready to play in doubles and take charge," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "I thought we played well in singles. With the first match it is just nice to get out there and see where we are at and what we need to work on to get better."
In the singles portion, Troy Gargrave and Garrett Livernois saw action at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. Gargrave defeated Matt McDivitt by the scores of 6-3, 6-4. Livernois also took care of Dan Driscoll in straight sets by the scores of 6-3, 6-1. For Livernois it was his first singles match of the season, while Gargrave improved to 5-1 including 2-0 at No. 5 singles.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, Feb. 20 when they host Spring Arbor University at 3 p.m.
