Men's Soccer Ends Season with 1-0 Win

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's soccer team ended the 2009 season with a 1-0 overtime win over the Albion Britons on Saturday night. The Bulldogs held an overall record of 7-10-3, including a 4-7-3 mark in the MIAA.
The game got off to a slow start. Albion had two shots on goal in the first half, while Adrian only managed to have one. The action increased in the second half and Alex Pavlika stood up to the challenge. Pavlika made five saves for Adrian, but the Bulldogs relied on a team save to shutout the Britons.
Albion used two goalkeepers. Jordan Thomas started the game and was replaced by Brian Greathouse at halftime. Thomas returned to the game late in the second half and also played goalie for the Britons during overtime. Each goalkeeper made two saves for Albion.
The play of the game came late in overtime at the 98:27 mark. The Bulldogs took advantage of an Albion foul to score the only goal of the game. Jamie Brower took the free kick after the Albion foul and put the ball right in front of the net. Aaron Armstrong deflected the ball past the goalkeeper to give Adrian the 1-0 victory.
Cazz Warren led the team with eight goals and 16 points during the season. Armstrong impacted the offense by leading the team in assists with four, and also by scoring two goals.
