Men's Soccer Wins 2-1 in Overtime Thriller Against Olivet

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's soccer team won 2-1 over Olivet with just two seconds remaining in the first overtime period. Freshman Jordan Miller (Toledo, Ohio) scored his first career goal in a Bulldog uniform to give Adrian the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The score remained scoreless through the first half. Adrian edged Olivet in shots for the half (5-3) and shots on goal (2-1). 

Senior Mark Proctor (Barrie, Ontario) cracked the scoreboard for the Bulldogs first in the 72nd minute for a 1-0 lead. Evan Shambaugh would knot things up with just 18 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

With time winding down, Adrian sophomore Zach Combs (Berkley, Mich.) booted a long pass just outside the box that teammate Jordan Miller was able to put past the Olivet goalkeeper with just two seconds remaining in the overtime period.

 The Bulldogs finished with a 17-10 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Both teams tallied two corner kicks for the game. Adrian keeper Luke Warrick (W, 1-1) saved two of the three shots he faced; Comet keeper Justin Lavin (L, 0-3) made three stops.

• Proctor and Miller each scored a goal for Adrian. Proctor attempted three shots, one on goal. Miller tallied three shots, two on goal.

• Zach Roller and Combs each tallied one shot on goal.

THE OPPOSITION

• Shambaugh scored the lone Olivet goal.

• Joshua Rosendale (3 shots, 1 on goal) and Vince Geremia (2 shots, 0 on goal) led the Comets in shots for the game.
