Cremeans Named First Team All-MIAA
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – Adrian men's soccer forward Billy Cremeans (Portage, Mich./Portage Northern) was named First Team All-MIAA on Wednesday the conference announced.
Cremeans lead the conference in goals (nine) and points (21), second in shots with 41 and tied for fifth in assists with three. Cremeans finished with 23 points on the season, including non-conference matchups. Cremeans was also named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week during week number five of the season. This is the first time since 1988 (Paul Anike) that an Adrian player has been named to the First Team All-MIAA and the fourth player ever at Adrian to earn the honor.
Sophomores Cazz Warren (Toronto, Ont./Archbishop Romero), Jamie Brower (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee) and freshman Marcus Derrick-Huie (Mississauga, Ont./Clarkson) were named Second Team All- MIAA.
Warren, a forward, was named second team for the second straight season. Warren scored seven goals on the season, adding in two assists for 16 points. Warren's four conference goals ranked him tied for sixth, and 10 points ranked him tied for fifth.
Forward Derrick-Huie netted three goals and three assists in his first season at Adrian for nine points. Derrick-Huie had a breakout game during the last home game of the season against Olivet where he scored a goal and had two assists, leading him to be named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for week 10. The three assists in conference play tied Derrick-Huie for fifth in the conference, while the nine points he racked up was tied for eighth.
Brower is being recognized for the first time in his career at Adrian. Brower was named MIAA Defensive player of the Week for the seventh week of the season. The Bulldogs defense, led by Brower, was key in the team finishing third in the MIAA, the highest in school history and setting a school record with nine wins in a season.
This is the first time ever that four Adrian players have been named All-MIAA. The previous most was three Adrian players were named first or second team All-MIAA was 1984, when Sam Yau was named first team and Mark Issler and Larry Kuzniar were named second team.
