Men’s Lacrosse Announces Captains for the 2011 Season

Adrian College men’s lacrosse Head Coach Brendan Hayes announced the three captains for the 2011 spring season as the Bulldogs fall season came to a close after they returned from a weekend trip to Washington and Jefferson College. There the Bulldogs will hit the field as they took on Division II schools, Seton Hill and Wheeling Jesuit along with the host, Division III Washington and Jefferson.

Taking duties this year as captains are third year captain, senior Nolan Gillespie (East Lansing, Mich.), second year captain, senior Adam Hague (Marietta, Ga.) and first year captain, junior Tyler Tanguay (Port Colborne, Ont.).

"Tyler, Nolan and Adam embody what we expect an Adrian lacrosse player to be," Hayes endorsed. "They are great students, great athletes, great workers and most importantly great people. I'm pleased with our team's selections and confident in our ability to lean on these three individuals for steady leadership throughout the year."

Gillespie enters his final year with the Bulldogs and looks to make it his best yet. “Nolan is the most inspirational athlete and player on the squad,” Hayes explained. “Everything he does is at full speed and with maximum effort.” Gillespie served as captain the past two seasons for the Bulldogs lacrosse team as well as being named captain of the Adrian Cross Country team this past fall.

Hague was a shutdown defender for the Bulldogs last season. “Adam brings a work ethic to everything he does that makes everyone around him want to work just as hard,” Hayes said. “His consistency in his play and attitude make him a leader for our guys this upcoming year.”

Tanguay, a junior captain, is the organizer of the group. His size, vocal leadership and knowledge on the field make him a great leader. He is always level headed and gains respect through his ability to always be doing the right thing at the right time. Tanguay led all midfielders with 37 points last season. As the reining team MVP, he looks to bring home another MLC Championship to Adrian in 2011.

Adrian posted a 10-3 overall record last season, while going undefeated (6-0) in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and taking the first ever Midwest Lacrosse Championship. The Bulldogs are looking for back-to-back Conference Championships this season.
