D3hockey.com Team of the Week for Feb. 14, 2018

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--Adrian College defenseman Dean Hewines (Troy, Mich./Fairbanks Ice Dogs, NAHL) made his D3hockey.com Team of the Week debut as the national award was announced late Wednesday. He was the lone freshman chosen on the six-member team.

The business major (with an accounting minor) had his first three-point weekend of his college career, helping the top-ranked Bulldogs clinch the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Peters Cup regular-season title for the fourth season in a row with wins over Milwaukee School of Engineering (6-0) and Concordia-Wisconsin (4-1). He also had a plus-3 rating. He scored his first career goal to give Adrian a 2-0 lead at the time and later added an assist against the Raiders on Friday. The next day, he assisted on the credited game-winning goal against the Falcons.

On the season, Hewines has five assists and six total points in 19 games played.

He is the fifth different Bulldog (seventh overall) this season to be honored D3hockey TOW, the first freshman since Vinny Post on Dec. 7, 2016, and the 25th time in team history that Adrian has earned this national weekly award.
