Gold Strikes 6-2 Win Over Detroit
ADRIAN, Mich. - The University of Detroit Mercy traveled to Arrington Ice Arena to take on the Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 28 with AC gold winning 6-2. The Bulldogs, looking for their 14th straight win, started out slow, but struck first with a tally by senior Andrew Connelly. Detroit Mercy responded with a score of their own the very next shift. However freshman defenseman Ben Silvers scored his first career goal near the end of the first period to restore the Bulldogs lead.
Freshman Nick Reuter scored the first of his two goals on the night early in the second period off a beautiful backhand pass from Colin Gilead. Andrew Adams scored the Bulldogs’ fourth goal on a top-shelf snipe from the top of the circles. Early in the third, the teams traded goals, the Bulldogs’ coming from George Holt from the side-boards.
The scoring was capped off by Reuter’s second of the night. All Star goalie Garrett Knappe had another solid night, stopping 30 of 32 shots. The Bulldogs host Lansing Community College tomorrow at 2:00 pm in their home finale.
