ACHA Gold Moves to 5-1 Overall with Weekend Sweep at Showcase

ADRIAN, Mich. - The ACHA Division 3 Gold team hosted a showcase October 8-10 and won all three games in convincing fashion. On Friday it was a 4-0 win over the University of Toledo. Four different players scored a goal for the Bulldogs as Tony Aukskalnis and Doug Raymond each notched two points. Aukskalnis scored a power play goal and added an assist. Raymond had a pair of assists on the night. Richard Beaupre scored on the power play while Nick Hurite and Anthony Rossi each scored even strength goals. Jeff Bernyk made 32 saves in the shutout over the Rockets.

On Saturday, Adrian defeated Northwood by the final of 7-4. The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead after the first period. Fred Krause scored at 11:26 and Raymond followed with a power play goal at 3:24. The Bulldogs added two more goals in the second period to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission. Steven Smith scored at 10:39 and Raymond scored his second of the game at 4:05. Nate Woznak, Aukskalnis and Beaupre all scored in the third period. Raymond led the team with three points. Alex Root was credited with a pair of assists. Kyle Wood also finished with two assists for Adrian.

On Sunday, Adrian won 7-1 against Illinois State. The Redbirds scored first but then it was all Bulldogs. Mitch Baker and Beaupre gave Adrian a 2-1 lead after one period. Adrian then added three goals in the second and two more in the third. Baker led the team with four points with two goals and two assists. Beaupre ended with a goal and two assists. Raymond notched a pair of goals. Bernyk made 16 saves through two-plus periods and Garrett Knappe played the final six minutes in net and accounted for three saves.
